The Daily Sunset April 27, 2006

At first I thought that I had missed the setting like I did last night...
busy on the computer and got out there just as the sky looked like it did tonight.

Then I realized that the sun's rays were coming down not up..

and then...

it popped!

Right out the bottom

of the clouds.

If you look close you can see outrigger canoes in the lower right.

They're on their way out not in!

Just enough room to be almost completely round.

Here's a great shot of a surfer about to head out...

and that water's still really cold.

The only thing is that he isn't getting ready to surf,

he's just gotten back in and for some reason kept throwing his board around.

Maybe he should blame the worker

and not the tools.

The Daily Sunset April 24, 2006

Marines on the move at sunset.
I wish we didn't need them,
but we do.
And they're the best there are.
I like shapes,
the curve of the bird,
the wispiest of clouds,
and the pagoda,
of a lifeguard tower.

More shapes.

Live long and prosper!

The Daily Sunset April 23, 2006

My favorite palm and the oceanscape.
My own Bali H'ai, Catalina Island, at the left on the horizon.
55 years I've lived here and never been,
"26 miles across the sea,
Santa Catalina is a waitin' for me"
and waiting, and waiting, and waiting.

Ruby's Restaurant at the end of the pier

with the sunset reflections

turning the windows into gold.

The Daily Sunset April 21, 2006

The great weather of the week gives way to
the gray of the weekend...arrrrgh!
The majesty of a single palm giving dimension
to the sky.

The Daily Sunset Returns April 20, 2006

This is what the camera was doing just before it died.
It turns out that it was a factory defect and Sony repaired it for free.
Back in business now here is tonight's sunset.
Like a drop of molten lava
dripping out of the sky.

Here's another one. The long horizontal black line at the bottom of

the picture is the dredging pipe that comes every April to clear the mouth of the harbor.

Here is one that I took before my camera left me high and dry.

It was left on the memory stick.

Bless you!
